More top jobs for BW

BRITISH Waterways may be in the middle of a redundancy programme which will see about 60 office based staff and up to 100 bank side staff made redundant but it appears that it is also recruiting.

Having recently recruited a new head of human resources, British Waterways is now looking for a head of fund raising, writes Allan Richards.

Circa 70k

British Waterways have engaged specialist recruitment agency Harris Hill to find them a head of fund raising based in Hertfordshire with a salary of circa 70k.

Unfortunately, looking at the Charityjob website the 70k salary on offer appears to be much higher than other jobs advertised. Worse still, immediately below the advert is another one with the same job title, 'head of fund raising', this time based in London at a salary of £37-£41k—around just half of that offered by British Waterways...

Jumping the gun

Surely, fund raising for the new charity is a matter for the transition trustees who will be appointed within the next few days. So why is British Waterways jumping the gun?

[The appointment is in addition to five volunteer managers already appointed and being paid by British Waterways.]
