THE Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is seeking to appoint seven ‘transition trustees' from April this year.

But three of these will come from the existing Board 'to ensure continuity' it is claimed, with the advertisement for the appointment of the trustees reading:

Boating comes last

'Candidates will bring significant Board level experience in large and complex organisations (in any sector). Specific areas of expertise that are particularly sought after include business and finance, heritage, sustainability and the environment, civil engineering, volunteering and community engagement, fund-raising and navigation and boating'.
