Kennet & Avon Trust problems

Published: Sunday, 30 January 2011

THE Kennet & Avon Canal Trust is having problems with falling membership, lack of cash and now disappearing chairman.

The Trust had no funds at the end of last year, the result of falling membership and disastrous results from its fund raising arm.

New record

But at least it has a new record, though perhaps not one it can boast of—four chairmen in four months! Dacid Rees, Neil Lethby, David Inight and Mike Rodd.

The Trust's attempt at fund raising has been unsuccessful, not only failing to raise funds from its usual sources but its 'Membership Plus' scheme that was meant to raise £100,000 by increasing membership of the Trust and general fund raising was a complete disaster, having raised nothing.

Its newsletter states that is has had a disastrous year, so things can only get better.
