New bridge over the Severn

THERE'S a new bridge over the Severn in Worcester, but stretching from bank to bank there are no pillars for boaters to negotiate.

This one is a pedestrian and cycle bridge, once again the result of lottery cash to Sustrans for cyclists.

At a cost of just under £2 millions it links part of the town to the Severn Way Footpath, to 'improve transport'.

A county council spokesman related that  the bridge had been the culmination of a long and complex project, with many objections.
