Another closure on Leeds & Liverpool

LACK of water has closed another section of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal—between Appley Bridge and Poolstock.

There is also little water in Wigan itself, as Stephen Fahey's photograph of Wigan Pier shows.

But it is the treatment by British Waterways that is upsetting boaters, receiving no help whatsoever, with Tony Gill stuck on his boat Mary Russell, telling us:

"The Leeds & Liverpool is now closed from Appley Bridge to Poolstock. We are one of 16 boats trapped  while BW is sitting on its hands and hoping that doing nothing for 24 hours will work, and ignoring please for help with water and sanitation services for stuck boats!"
