Music on the waterways

THIS summer will see a band of musicians making a music tour of the Warwickshire Canal System by narrowboat.

Folk on the Water is a 15 dates music tour of the Warwickshire Canal System by narrowboat between 25th June and 11th July, stopping at canalside locations each day to hold live music concerts.

Hosted by a variety of locations large and small, the concerts will feature a variety of artistes and musical genres—each tailored to suit the location.

Left to right in the photo the artistes are Fuzzy Vox, Vix Vox (both Fuzzbox), Matt Hernandez (Flamenco Gypsy), Jim Gross (Breathe: The Floyd Sound), Ellen Miller.

40 artistes

Amongst the 40 plus artistes taking part will be Matt Hernandez—traditional Flamenco (water gypsy) guitarist and stage promoter at the Warwick Folk Festival, Kristy Gallacher—Coventry's much loved acoustic performer, Ellen Miller—Lemington Spa's singer songwriter who has been making a name for herself on the London scene. X-Factor girl-group Singergie and Fuzzbox—80's Girl punk band.

The organiser Dutch Van Spall tells us:

"There will be something for everyone, and we will be including a rich variety of music styles. We are working with each of the venues to provide a mix of live music to suit their audience and hopefully introduce something a bit different as well".

By boat

Travelling by boat from Warwick to Rugby and then back to Leamington Spa, the tour will culminate in a free festival of music at the Newbold Comym Arms on Newbold Common, Leamington Spa.

The tour will raise awareness and funds for the new Children's Hospice being built right now at Exhall Grange near Coventry by the National Childrens' Charity ZOE'S PLACE.
