WRENBURY LIFT BRIDGE is to be taken down after being damaged by a vehicle strike.

That was serious, Keith Gudgin reports.

The Llangollen Canal bridge 20 has been closed time after time with with vehicle strikes, but the last one was due to a vehicle strike which has caused damage to the timber support, and closed the operation of the bridge.

Take down the bridge

So now the bridge has to be taken down to fix the damage, with Canal & River Trust's  engineering team working with contractors to develop a plan to safely take down the damaged bridge.

Until this is worked out the navigation remains closed.

It is to be hoped that when repaired and working again CCTV cameras will be installed to protect the bridge and secure the identity of those causing damage so compensation can be obtained.
