TWO USUAL STOPPAGES are again in force closing navigations.
On the Llangollen and Huddersfield Broad canals, Keith Gudgin reports.
On the Llangollen it is the Wrenbury Lift Bridge (20) that has had yet another vehicle strike ruining the lift's barriers.
Time and time again this has occurred and time and time again we—and others—have told that an automatic CCTV would catch the culprits and so get compensation.
So once again specialist contractors have been instructed to plan a method of repair.
Huddersfield Broad Canal
There is both a navigation and towpath closure on the Huddersfield Broad Canal with the Loco Lift Bridge (17) being out of order.
This was the bridge that caused so much trouble in the past with it failing to operate, and now essential work is being undertaken to replace the lift bridge chains.
This we are told will help to maintain the safe and reliable operation of the bridge.
