IT WAS THE NORTHAMPTON Scuba School that were concerned about all the rubbish in the Nene at Northampton.
It's members all too often being caught by the rubbish, Janet Friend reports.
Lasted many hours
So a large number of members took it on themselves to have a clean-up of the river in the town that lasted many hours.

As can be seen there were many large items that were having an effect on their activities and dangerous too.
They collected two old shopping trolleys, a milk churn, a number of car tyres, an old bike, a drill and charger.
Clearing its rubbish
The event took place on on Saturday 19th September and was organised in conjunction with the Northampton Active and Northampton Rowing Club, with the intention of clearing a stretch of the river of its rubbish.
The Northampton Scuba School intend to keep the work up and keep the section of the Nene clear of rubbish.
Boaters have told of striking objects whilst cruising the area around Northampton, and our log tells of having difficulty mooring to get to the shops in the town. So the work done will certainly help boaters.
