THE COMPETITION TO CHOOSE A NAME for the new bridge over the Erewash Canal has completed and a choice has been made.
It is plain and simple—West Park Bridge, Janet Friend reports.
This new footbridge across the Erewash Canal will replace the old one that linked the town centre with West Park and was closed last November.
The bridge (picture by Erewash Borough Council) should open in September and be for walkers and cyclists.
The new bridge at Long Eaton, is part of the Long Eaton Town Deal Walking and Cycling project, and contain elements inspired by wedding lace made in the Harrington Mills.
The scheme is part of Long Eaton's £25m Town Deal, which was announced in 2021 by the government.
