WORK HAS STARTED ON Bidford Bridge over the Avon.
The work will take six months, Roger Fox reports.
The work on the repairs started on Monday (March 16) and will last around six months. that has has been delayed owing to the floods.
Effect on navigation
The installation of access scaffolding is now taking place that is expected to have an effect on navigation.
The work is being funded between Warwickshire County Council and the Department for Transport’s Highways Maintenance Challenge Fund, that works to preserve the heritage bridges in the region.
The flooding has caused the erosion of stone and damage to cutwaters together with mortar loss leading to deterioration.
