Having read and watched a programme on the amount of raw sewage being pumped more times than not into the rivers and canals writes Rob Halladay.

I have come to the conclusion that C&RT shutting sanitary stations shouldn't be a problem.

The amount of raw sewage being pumped out is greater than the sewage being pumped out of boats or carried in Elsans.

You pay for pump-outs or put effort into carrying Elsans to the emptying point.

Why go to the effort or expense when what you empty just flows down the pipes to get pumped straight back into the river or canal where it came from.
