Seeing your article on the Winkwell Swing Bridge which mentioned the need for cameras, writes Ian Waters.
I believe the problem is excessive speed on the approach to the swing bridge.
Perhaps the installation of road humps or 'sleeping policemen' as they are known, might be a solution and prevent damage in the first place.
This would involve the local highway authority , but if Canal & River Trust where to liaise and offer to share the cost then perhaps something could be achieved here, and at other bridges prone to bridge strikes?
