THERE IS STILL NO DECISION made regarding the repair to Ware Lock on the Lee Navigation.

Lock closed

It was on the 21st January that Ware Lock 2 was closed, Keith Gudgin reports.

At that time it was told that navigation had to be suspended, with it being necessary to ensure the safety of customers and to allow engineers to complete the required repairs as efficiently as possible.

Alas it was not too efficiently, as over four weeks later all we are told is that the Environment Agency's inspection last month has identified critical safety concerns with the lock gates.

The agency are now developing a repair plan to determine the extent of the work required and the timescales involved. And until this plan is confirmed, the lock will remain closed.

In hands of the agency

So it is in the hands of the agency who will keep the trust informed.

During this period, navigation will be suspended through Ware Lock until the necessary repairs are completed.
