IT WAS ONLY LAST Wednesday that Foxton Flight was reopened after months of closure.

But the trust warn the flight may have to close again through lack of water, Janet Friend reports.

foxton flight 2Get back to moorings

The recent opening of the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal allowed boaters who had been stuck between Watford and Foxton flights to allow them to get back to their various moorings.

A reason for saving water on this section is because there are a number of marinas that have to be protected.

The trust told that the two flights will remain open to allow enough time for people to get home, but low water levels remained a problem.

Told the BBC

Boaters told the BBC that they had been stuck.

With Rebecca Howard telling she had decided to put it up for sale but had not been able to because it's stuck down here.

Xavier Sargenti, was trying to get back to Mancetter in Warwickshire via the Coventry Canal and told that for three months he had been paying two moorings because I'd paid upfront in Mancetter and you can't really give that mooring up.

So he had paid six months there and to be stuck here means it's been an additional cost.
