The cost of no maintenance
THE FAILURE of Warehouse Swing Bridge 187 yesterday makes seven such failures from April.
Warehouse Swing Bridge (pictured) has failed for the second time, Keith Gudgin reports.
This time our being told it is currently not operational and that contractors are to attend to site to investigate and to undertake the repairs needed to the asset.
The failures
From April the swing bridge failures include Bradley, Mickleswaite, Warehouse (twice), Maghull, Bar Lane and Woolhampton—seven stoppages in just over two months.
Surely a little prior maintenance would come a lot cheaper that having such continuous expensive repairs. And Bradley too had failed again earlier this year.
Of course it is not just the cost, but the problems that boaters have to endure through the many swing bridge stoppages.
