Boaters assisted through Macclesfield Canal repair

THE TRAPPED BOATERS wanting to pass through the repair of the leaking Macclesfield Canal were all successfully assisted through this week.

The problem is the leak that occurred on the waterway between  Bridges 26 and 27 at Bollington, Keith Gudgin reports.

Now closed

The navigation now remains closed as the trust continue to plan the repairs to the canal bed.

Dams are being installed on Monday 9th June, following which the trust will carry out a fish rescue whilst the section is dewatered to allow investigation and create a method of repair.

Pumps will be installed to help maintain the water levels either side of the works.
