New season and its first stoppage

IT'S WAS THE START of a new season yesterday (Friday) with its first stoppage the Foxton Swing Bridge.

The Foxton Swing Bridge on the Market Harborough Arm is closed. Reason: Inspection, Keith Gudgin reports.

So the Market Harborough Arm is completely cut-off by the failure of the bridge with Canal & River Trust adding that the bridge is chained-off to prevent passage.

Strangely

Yet strangely, it told it was open at 10am yesterday and manned for the rest of the day!

The only reason given for the 'stoppage' is to determine a problem that has arisen.
