More problems on the Leeds & Liverpool and Sheffield & South Yorkshire
TO REGULAR READERS it is obvious that there are regular stoppages on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
One of them being its swing bridges as Keith Gudgin often tells.
Now it is the Bradley Swing Bridge 182A that failed yesterday, (Wednesday) closing the navigation, with our being told this is due to low oil levels, and that contractors are on the way to try and get the issue resolved today. ( to try?) Surely this is simply lack of maintenance.
And in addition to the long running problem of the 'large void' between Stegneck Lock and Bank Newton Bottom Lock that has had the waterway closed since early February.
Sheffield & South Yorkshire
There's another stoppage on the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation with the failure of Sprotbrough Lock that was closed due to an electrical fault.
Let's hope this is more quickly attended to than the hydraulic oil leak that occurred on the Frank Price Lock on that navigation on the 20th of February and is still closed! Perhaps as in the Bradley Swing Bridge it ran out of oil—and so shattered its works!
