Stranded deer rescued from Grand Union Canal

A STRANDED DEER was rescued by firefighters last week after it went into the water.

DeerRescuesIt had fallen into the Grand Union Canal just outside Leicester, Janet Friend reports.

The muntjac deer was unable to get out and so the fire service was called.

Head above water

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service crews attended and were able to save the animal as it held its head above the water.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA has said the animal had no major issues, and has since been released back into the wild.
