Boaters stuck on Weaver yet again
THIS WEEKEND once again saw boats stuck on the Weaver as the Anderton Boat Lift had failed.
Additional work
Our being told that engineering investigations have confirmed that additional works to the gate operating mechanism are required for safe operation of the lift, Keith Gudgin reports.
There will be more information at the end of the month.
Meanwhile boats are again stuck on the Weaver, their being unable to use the lift.
Specialist engineers are urgently progressing with the works required and developing the programme to undertake the repairs needed to re-open the lift.
Closed at Easter
And worse—we are told that it will not be operational at Easter.
Once again Canal & River Trust advise boaters there is an alternative route off the river on to the Manchester Ship Canal.
But to get information before doing so at Manchester Ship Canal.
