Three closures on Tuesday

IN ADDITION to the Huddersfield Narrow that was closed on Tuesday there have been two more closures on that day.

Making it three this week so far, Keith Gudgin reports.

Rushall Lock Flight of the Rushall Canal in Birmingham was closed by a 'structure failure'.

This being the failure of a sluice that is badly leaking, but workers are at the site conducting emergency repairs.

Wigan Flight

And yet again its the Wigan Flight on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal that is closed as the tailgate on Lock 68 of the flight is unable to hold water, it leaking so badly and boaters unable to get the water level enough to open the gate.

Then upon inspection is was discovered the cill was broken, and are told that 'cill works will commence as soon as the design is finalised'.

Wigan Flight had two long stoppages last year, with one of those also a broken cill.
