YESTERDAY, Wednesday saw the failure of Riley's Swing Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

Well showing that still they fail, Keith Gudgin reports.

CrabtreeMisalignment

This time due to 'misalignment making the bridge un-operational', but no further details given.

Looking at the swing bridge failures on this navigation shows there is something drastically wrong with them, there being 12 failures in the last seven months, as Keith reported.

July saw the Crabtree (pictured) and Dock swing bridges fail. In September Bar Lane Swing Brdige failed. In October Holmes and Millman swing bridges failed.

In November both Warehouse and New Lane (pictured) swing bridges failed. And it was the same again in December with these two failing again!

Then January of this year saw New Lane Swing Bridge fail yet again for the fourth time since November, together with Crabtree Swing Bridge also failing.

And the latest, this month, Riley's Swing Bridge making 12 swing bridge failures in all closing the navigation.

There is indeed something drastically wrong.
