Quick work at Newark

NETHER LOCK on the Trent AT Newark had to be closed on Monday.

It had suffered flood damage by the flood caused by melting snow so was unusable, Keith Gudgin reports.

Canal & River Trust told engineers were attending site this week to assess the damage and so start repairs, with the promise of an update on Friday of this week.

Repaired following day

But surprise, surprise, repairs have been carried out the following day, Tuesday, with the lock fully operable.

The trust telling that its boating customers can now proceed as normal.

It would seem that in this case contractors with their finding a 'method of repair' were not involved!
