Mercia Marina gives huge congratulations to Kate Read and Rob Pollard, who have just completed their incredible 24 hours Mercia Marathon challenge.
This was in support of Kate’s marathon fundraising.
National Autistic Society
They were running to raise money for the National Autistic Society, a charity known for its outstanding support for autistic people and their families.
Kate tells the work they do is truly life-changing, and feels passionate about supporting their mission.
Starting at 6pm on Saturday, they ran 1.1 miles every hour on the hour, completing laps of the marina through the dark, cold and rain.
By the end of the 24 hours, Kate clocked an amazing 43km—more than a full marathon!
Support made the difference
From the marina a massive thank you to everyone who waved, cheered, chatted, and donated along the route. Your support made all the difference.
Kate is also running both the London and Edinburgh Marathons in 2026, and her fundraising page will remain open for anyone wishing to contribute:
