Six weeks to clear trees
Published: Thursday, 09 January 2025
IT WAS THE 11th December when fallen trees closed the Shropshire Union Canal at Woodseaves Cutting.
This was between Bridges 56 & 59 along the cutting, Keith Gudgin then reported.
Though contractors were on site at this time the trees have still not been cleared. and now we are told that the first date they are likely to be is Friday (of course) the 24th of January, making it over a six weeks job!
Navigation and towpath closed
With of course not only the navigation but the towpath also, closed.
Such reasons/excuses being given as 'an effective methodology for clearing trees that are still blocking navigation'.
But it seems the 'methodology' was not so good if it is still taking six weeks...
