Another broken cill closes Leeds & Liverpool Canal

A BROKEN cill near the Leeds end of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal has the navigation closed.

However Canal & River Trust does not tell which lock has the broken cill only that it is the intermediate top chamber gate cill has broken.

Then tells  navigation is closed between Newlay and Kirkstall locks, and that operatives are attending site to assess the works required.

Nine weeks to repair

Earier this year it took contractors nine weeks to repair the broken cill on Lock 73, that was a new record for a cill repair.

Boaters must hope the contractors start this repair early otherwise it could go into next years' boating season.
