It wasn't the motor that stopped the lift working
THOUGH it was understood it was the motor driving the Loco Lift Bridge on the Huddersfield Broad Canal that had failed it was not.
The motor was taken out and has been tested and found to be in good working order., Keith Gudgin reports.
Other parts are now being assessed to find the root cause of the problem that closed the bridge on Monday.
Rochdale Canal
The Rochdale too is still closed due to low water levels and a leak has been identified at Lock 5, which will need repairs before the canal can be refilled and reopened.
The navigation was closed two weeks ago on the 9th of November, and it is expected that further information will be given next week.
Lancaster Canal
The Hollowforth Aqueduct on the Lancaster Canal is still in a state of repair.
This suffered a major breach on Saturday 20th July that has required a great deal of work including 40 tons of temporary fill material used to support the three-sided dam that was removed.
This was then replaced with 40 tons of compacted clay as a permanent solution for the hole created when the water rushed out of the canal creating a scour to its bed.
Ouse
The Ouse was closed on Thursday at Linton Lock, that is inoperable.
This was caused by an hydraulic pipe failure, and told that mechanics were on their way to site to investigate the problem.
But no further information has been received concerning the failure, with the lock still closed to navigation.
