Loco Lift bridge fails after vital inspection

A VITAL inspection was undertaken in January of this year on the Loco Lift Bridge on the Huddersfield Broad Canal.

But is has failed and the navigation is now closed, Keith Gudgin reports.

In good working order

It was at that time it was told by Canal & River Trust that it has the challenging task of keeping these historic structures in good working order with regular inspections and extensive maintenance.

But its drive mechanism has failed that requires a part removing and taking to a workshop for inspection and repairs.

It is understood a report will be given at the end of this week.
