Another winter works bites the dust

FOLLOWING on from the cancellation of the winter works on the Llangollen Canal, comes yet another cancellation.

This time it is the Caldon Canal, with its repairs scheduled for winter works now cancelled, Keith Gudgin reports.

The work was for sluice refurbishment and paddle replacement on Hazelhurst Flight that would have closed the navigation and the towpath we are told.

Strange notice

The official notice is somewhat strange as it tells the stoppage would have started on the 6th January 2025 and ended 31st October 2024!  Meaning it ends before it starts.

But also states Monday 6th January 2025 until Friday 24th January 2025, this obviously the accurate one.

But how many more winter works are going to be cancelled before they actually start?
