Objects dumped in canal causing problems

THREE large objects dumped in the Trent & Mersey Canal at Branston are causing difficulties.

These objects are close to the bend between bridges 34 and 35 near Branston Water Park, Keith Gudgin reports.

They were noticed yesterday, Tuesday, with deep draughted boats scraping them as they pass over, so Canal & River Trust has advised boaters to keep to the offside between the bridges as the obstacles are spread over a large area of the waterway.

It is not known when the obstacles were dumped but they appear to be such as large domestic items and fairly near to the towpath side.

The advice from the trust is for those with deep draughted boats to keep to the offside through this section.

There is no advice if or when these obstacles will be removed.
