Walsall problem affecting water supplies

THE barrier holding back the chemical spillage on the Walsall Canal is affecting the water supply to the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal.
The lack of water normally coming via the Walsall Canal to feed the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal has resulted in its Curdworth Flight being closed, Keith Gudgin reports.
Carried by Tame Valley Canal
The water to supply the Birmingham & Fazeley is carried by the Tame Valley Canal, that is at present closed owing to the chemical spill.
The resulting very low water levels have forced the closure of Curdworth Flight as boats are grounded.
They will likely remain so until the Environment Agency tells that all the waterways are clear of chemicals.
