Police sieze e-scooters
FIVE e-scooters have been seized by police in Stratford.
This will stop them being used in and around the town, where they were being used illegally, Roger Fox reports.
Illegal in any public space
Privately-owned e-scooters are illegal to use in any public space, including roads, pavements, parks and towpaths.
Not only are they a menace in the town, being so silent, but particularly dangerous on the often narrow South Stratford Canal and Avon towpaths.
The Safer Neighbourhood Team told it took decisive action against illegal e-scooter riders in Stratford during an operation adding:
Protecting public safety
“We successfully seized five more e-scooters as part of our ongoing commitment to enforcing the law and protecting public safety.”
Though it is legal to use e-scooters in public areas where there are government trials and organised hire schemes, nowhere in Warwickshire is covered for these trials.
