Traditional boats featured at events

THERE are two festivals on the weekend of the 19th to the 21st July featuring traditional boats.

It is the well established 45th Thames Traditional Boat Festival at Fawley Meadows at Henley, with boats from the past celebrating the workmanship of the boatbuilders of the bygone age.

It is not only the traditional boats but three days of 'fun packed entertainment' that is on offer, boasting of more attractions than ever.

It will feature the largest fleet of Dunkirk 'Little Ships' ever to attend the festival together with amphibious boat, military vehicles and even aircraft of the Great War Display Team.

Gnosall Canal Festival

On the Shropshire Union Canal there are more traditional boats on display over that weekend at Gnosall.

With already 20 historic boats entered backed at this event by around 20 trade boats offering a wide variety of items with many giving demonstrations.

There is entertainment and food on offer in addition to boat trips along the Shropshire Union Canal.
