Grand Union closed at Braunston

AN UNEXPECTED fault on Braunston Lock 4 closed the canal yesterday, Tuesday.

This fault means it is impossible to close the bottom gates, Keith Gudgin reports.

We are told a local team is visiting to 'assess the situation and to try and rectify the issue'.

Boaters cannot of course use the lock, with it closed for navigation.

Swing bridge repaired

On the Kennet & Avon Canal Rusty Lane Swing Bridge 151 at Seend has been repaired and the navigation reopened.

This was the swing bridge that could not be operated, being stuck in the position allowing access across the canal and therefore could not be swung to allow navigation.
