More boater facilities bite the dust

FOLLOWING on from the news yesterday of the closure of the boater facilities at Pitstone on the Grand Union. comes news of yet another closure.

Making it three in the space of a month that Keith Gudgin has reported.

This time it is the Shower Facilities at Foulridge Tunnel on the Leeds & Liverpool.

There is worse. For though there is the possibility that the failure at Stone and Pitstone could be replaced, this time Canal & River plainly state:

'Please be advised following a review of all Trust owned Customer Service Facilities, we have taken the decision to not replace the showers at Foulridge Customer Service Facilities on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in line with our new customer standards'.

In only one direction

It then goes on to tell that the closest shower facility is located at Lock 44 Greenberfield Services on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, but no intimation of such in the opposite direction.

There is no information of what the 'new customer standards' imply, it looking like showers are being dispensed with, meaning another blow to continuous cruisers.
