Suspected culvert collapse closes Leeds & Liverpool

THERE has been a suspected culvert collapse that has closed the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

This was discovered yesterday, Wednesday, by the northern end of Foulridge Tunnel, Keith Gudgin reports.

Dams installed

Today, dams are being installed at both ends of the suspected collapse to enable inspection.

The navigation is closed through the tunnel to the bottom of Barrowford Locks.
