Lock keepers cottage to be retained

A MASSIVE proposed development in the Digbeth area of Birmingham will see a Grand Union Canal lock keepers' cottage retained.

UpperTrinityDigbethTendering is to start for the Digbeth Cultural Quarter shortly of the first phase of a £260m mixed-used scheme including 943 homes in the Digbeth area of Birmingham. Roger Fox reports.

Multiple owners

The developer has struck a deal to purchase the site from multiple owners and proceed with the scheme containing homes, a 133 bedroom hotel and 60,000ft of commercial space.

The scheme’s Pump House Park is designed around the historic lock keepers cottage which is to be retained and renovated.

Altogether there will be eight buildings including one of 31 storeys, by the Grand Union Canal.
