Not enough depth for trip boat

THE trip boat, Birdswood, of the Friends of Cromford Canal, is stuck on its moorings due to lack of depth of water.

This means that all the recent booking for the trip boat have had to be cancelled due to the low water levels in the canal.

BirdswoodCromfordLeaks are the problem

It is believed that leaks are the problem together with very little flow from its reservoir Bonsall Brook, that feeds the waterway at Cromford.

The owners of the canal, Derbyshire County Council, are attempting to locate the leaks with ground penetrating radar surveys so as to be able to eventually plug the worst of them.

In addition to the cruises, extended trips include visits to the Leawood Pump House, Aqueduct Cottage and Wigwell Aqueduct in different groups.  But alas, these have had to be cancelled.
