Grand Union summit reservoirs very low

THE reservoirs feeding the Grand Union Summit are very low, Howard Clarke reveals.

WilstoneCausewayThe Wilstone Reservoir, he remarks, is around 15ft below winter levels.

Usually under water

The causeway shown on Howard's photograph of the reservoir is usually 10ft under water, yet can now clearly be seen, making it possible that a closure could be imminent along the summit section at Bulbourne.

As yet the section has had little problems this summer, and perhaps now the long dry spell has ended, the reservoirs will regain their supplies and prevent any closures.

The summit serves Marsworth Locks to the north and Berkhamsted Locks to the south.
