Bird flu killing swans in London waterways

MANY swans have been discovered dead in the London waterways in an outbreak of bird flu.

What is believed to be the worst such outbreak in the city is leaving many dead swans discovered around the Grand Union and Regent's canals, Roger Fox reports.

Many floating carcasses

Trip boat operators on the waterways are reporting having seen many floating carcasses of dead swans as they cruise.

There are reports of 'dead swans everywhere', particularly at Little Venice where they congregate for food from the moored boaters.

It is believed  to be the worst outbreak of the virus ever experienced in the city.
