Detached cill closes Audlem Flight

A DETACHED cill on a Audlem Flight lock has closed the Shropshire Union Canal.

If other cill repairs are anything to go by this could close the waterway for some time, Keith Gudgin reports.

Leaking for some time

It is Lock 2 on the flight where the cill has become detached, with the cill known to have been leaking for some time, as boaters have advised.

Once again, Canal & River Trust relate that engineers are on their way to site to 'arrange a method of repair'.

There is no intimation when the repair will take place.
