Aire & Calder closed until middle of May

THE Aire & Calder Navigation will be closed until the middle of May for dredging.

The Canal & River Trust's dredging team has been mobilised to clear the build up of silt that has stopped navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.

Closed from 11th February

It was on the 11th February that Bank Dole Cut was closed through build-up of silt, but at last dredging is to commence starting at Heck Lock

This will carry on to Bank Dole Lock that should be reached by the middle May.  In the meantime the navigation remains closed.

The trust give May 14th as the reopening date when navigation can again commence.
