Further Middlewich lock damage found

FURTHER damage to the lock gate has been found on the broken Stanthorne Lock on the Middlewich Branch.

Though the lock gate has been removed further damaged was discovered, though what this is we are not told, Keith Gudgin reports.

Back on-site

However, contractors have measured and manufactured the steel work required to make the repair the gate and are back on-site to install the framework.

The contractors are aiming to reinstall the lock gate today, Wednesday, then reinstall the balance beam and carry out essential repairs to the lock, including the lock ladder.

Four Counties Ring open

After this the scaffolding and fabric dams will be removed as soon as it is safe to do so, and then the Four Counties Ring will once again be open for navigation.
