Coxhead Swing Bridge repaired

COXHEAD Swing Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal is now repaired.
The bridge was damaged on Thursday 11th April with passage restricted to just Mondays and Fridays at noon, when it was swung open. At all other times it remained closed to enable the use by road traffic, Keith Gudgin reported.
Blamed vandals
In stating that it is now open, once again Canal & River Trust blame vandals, yet the reason first given for the stoppage was that a vehicle had struck the mechanism and caused the damage.
It was later that vandals attacked the huts that had been used by the contractors at the site, as the picture shows, that had nothing to do with the initial damage.
