Leicester Section restrictions start

IT DOES NOT bode too well for boaters using the Leicester Section as restrictions are already in place.

Passage through Kibworth Top Lock (18) to Cranes Lock (22) is now from 9am to 3.30pm for last entry and is now in force 'until further notice', Keith Gudgin reports.

Reservoir levels blamed

Again, low reservoir levels are blamed, it being stated they are lower than usual for this time of year.

Chaining up the locks will allow back pumping to be more effective it is claimed.

Last year the Leicester Section was closed during the latter part of the season, so indeed with restriction this early in the season it indeed does not bode well for boaters.
