THE annual St Richard’s Boat and Car Festival at Droitwich brought many new boats to the waterway.

Held over the Bank Holiday weekend the many traditionally decorated narrowboats brought the crowds into Vines Park in the town, with vintage and classic cars lined along the streets, Alan Tilbury reports.

13th year

The festival celebrates St Richard the patron saint of Droitwich, is in its 13th year after it took-off, growing into the annual extravaganza traditionally held over the May Bank Holiday.

There were boat trips, a market, a dog show, community stalls, arts and crafts, children’s activities and family fun and even a well blessing.

There was also live entertainment, food stalls and a real ale bar, with the free event organised jointly by Worcester-Birmingham & Droitwich Canals Society, Wychavon District Council and Droitwich Town Council,
