New bridge over the Wey

A NEW bridge is planned over the Wey navigation in Guildford.

The river is the link to the Wey & Arun Canal that will eventually connect the Thames with the South Coast, Alan Tilbury reports.

Replace former bridge

The bridge will replace former Walnut bridge and has now received planning approval for its construction early next year, and will be in place of a cable bridge that was rejected by the council.

It is a pedestrian bridge that will serve the railway station from the town.
