Canal rescuer found

WHEN a passer-by saw a woman in the Kennet & Avon Canal near Bradford on Avon, who had obviously lost consciousness, he immediately jumped in to rescue her, as she was in real danger of losing her life.

For Irene Teggin could not swim, and had lost consciousness being unable to get out, so the rescuer realising her condition, called an ambulance with the result that she spent time in hospital being treated for pneumonia. Then he simply walked off, Alan Tilbury reports.

Appeal on Facebook

It was an appeal on Facebook by her daughter Helly Teggin who so wanted to thank the man who saved her mother, that eventually managed to track Colin Seal down, who was the rescuer, but who was quite modest about it, telling her:

"I am very pleased to hear your mum is recovering. She was in quite a bad state when we got her out. It is very flattering to read all the comments, but there was no risk to me at all."
