A hole in the Rochdale

IT IS the turn of the Rochdale Canal to be closed again, and until further notice owing to loss of water.
A hole has appeared in the bed of the canal between Lock 40 and Lock 41 near Punchbowl Bridge on the summit, Keith Gudgin tells us.
Complete loss of water
This has caused the complete loss of water in the pound, with the engineers inspecting today (Thursday).
The canal is of course now closed 'until further notice' until the matter can be rectified.

The pound has been drained and the hole inspected, with the work to repair expecting to take five days.
